TIA Guard
What is TIA Guard?
- TIA Guard is a product designed to stop CNC machines in the event of a collision or crash, preventing significant damage and protecting valuable spindle motors from potential harm. TIA Guard can be integrated with TIA CNCHealth, a modular part of TEKNOPAR’s smart digital platform, TIA Platform, which provides end-to-end solutions using Internet of Things (IoT), big data, digital twins, artificial intelligence, and user interface applications.
What is Spindle Collision?
- Spindle collision with the workpiece is one of the situations that causes performance loss and damages the health of the machine. During a machine crash or tool breakage, a significant force is applied to the bearing balls. Unfortunately, this impact can cause permanent deformation in the bearing balls.
General Features of TIA Guard
TIA Guard detects collisions and impacts during the machine's operating process. It is designed according to industrial environmental standards, making it resistant to water, machine oil, chemicals, and dust particles. TIA Guard has a built-in vibration sensor with a wide measurement range to prevent high costs resulting from collisions and crashes. This sensor can continuously monitor the vibration values at the point where it is installed in real-time. When the threshold value is exceeded, TIA Guard quickly intervenes by either stopping the machine or placing it in standby mode. It uses the CANBUS communication protocol to quickly detect collisions and impacts. Additionally, the vibration data collected in real-time is transmitted to the user interfaces using the MQTT protocol.
Operating Principle of TIA Guard
- TIA Guard detects the moment of a spindle collision and immediately sends an "Emergency Stop" or "Feed Hold" signal. Due to the inertia of the axes, the reaction time for stopping is under 100 ms. This process puts the machine into an emergency "Stop/Feed Hold" state. The quick reaction time prevents further progression of the collision problem and protects the bearing.
Application Areas of TIA Guard
TIA Guard can be used in robotic arm systems, CNC machines, and other industrial machines that face risks like collisions or breakages. With sensors capable of measuring in a wide range of ±100 g or ±400 g, it is a reliable solution even for machines that operate under high vibration conditions in various industries.
- 1. CNC Machines: TIA Guard effectively prevents collisions and crashes in high-speed, moving CNC machines, ensuring increased safety during the production of precision workpieces.
- 2. Robotic Applications: In the field of automation, TIA Guard provides a reliable solution by reducing collision effects in high-speed robotic applications.
Installation of TIA Guard
TIA Guard is mounted using industrial metal adhesives without any mechanical intervention to the existing mechanical system.
